Doni Thompson

Doni is the owner and Head Coach of Eyas Gymnastics. Doni has been involved with gymnastics for the past 20 years as an athlete and coach. Prior to founding Eyas, Doni developed a highly successful, highly unique boys only gymnastics program that produced several junior national team members as well a thriving recreational program for all ages. Along with her husband, Iowa head coach JD Reive, she managed and operated JDR Gymnastics for six years at Stanford University before moving her family to the University of Iowa and beginning her new endeavor with Eyas Gymnastics. During her tenure at JDR Doni took the reigns on one of Nation's largest men's invitationals, the Stanford Open in 2009, directing the most successful weekend in the events 20 year history. 

As a  gymnastics prodigy, Doni quickly moved through the elite ranks. Beginning gymnastics at age 7, Doni began competing within a year and completed level 5 through 9 as an eight year old! The following year she competed one more year of level 9, qualifying to Western Nationals and winning the uneven bars. At age 10 Doni went elite, competing in her first international competition at the Mexican Olympic Festival where she won every single event and the All-Around. Doni was a member of the US National Team from 1992 to 1995. During these years was the 1994 US Olympic Festival All-Around, Bars and beam Champion, a member of the 1995 Pan American Games Gold medal team in Buenos Aires, Argentina and a member of the 1995 Bronze medal US World Championship team in Sabae, Japan. She held numerous national event titles and international assignments.

Doni concluded her athletic career at UCLA as a college stand out. She helped UCLA win three NCAA Championships in 2000, 2001 and 2003. She was a two-time collegiate All-American, the All-Pac-10 Conference academic team and the Pac-10 "Freshman of the Year."

As the owner and Head Coach of Eyas Gymnastics, Doni intends to engage and educate the local and regional community in program building, community outreach and the fundamental tools needed to produce a successful program and athletes. 

​Doni holds a Bachelors degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from UCLA. JD and Doni have been married for 13 years and have two sons, Dante and Silas.
